Eddie Jones scored 19 points as the Miami Heat beat the Detroit Pistons 84-71 Friday night.

Detroit was missing shooting guard Richard Hamilton (nose) and coach Larry Brown, who skipped the game to attend a 15th-anniversary party for Kansas' NCAA championship team, which he coached.

Miami, without Caron Butler (knee) and Ike Austin (hip), got 15 points from former Piston John Wallace and 10 points and eight rebounds from rookie Udonis Haslem.

Heat rookie Dwyane Wade left the game in the first half with a sprained left foot and did not return.

The Pistons opened the second half with a 12-2 run, led by six points from Elden Campbell, but the rally stalled there. Detroit never got closer than six, and Miami had the margin back to 64-53 by quarter's end.

Pistons rookie Darko Milicic had two points in eight minutes.
